Deomali Mountain, rising to approximately 1,672 meters, is the highest point in Odisha. Located near Barabandha village in the Kotia Panchayat division, it’s about 70 km from Koraput via Semiliguda. Surrounded by lush green forests, Deomali is teeming with diverse flora and fauna. The hill range is also rich in mineral resources, including bauxite, limestone, and gemstones. The area features numerous brooks and deep valleys, inhabited by various tribes such as the Kandhas, Parajas, Bhumias, Malis, and Bhotias. Deomali is not only a stunning destination for tourists but also a haven for adventure sports enthusiasts, offering opportunities for hang gliding, mountaineering, and trekking. Recently, the Odisha Tourism Department has been implementing several development initiatives to enhance its appeal as a prime tourist spot, including the construction of tar roads, hilltop amenities, drinking water facilities, and observation towers for breathtaking views.
