It is almost 100 km from Berhampur and almost 250 km from Bhubaneswar, which takes almost 2 hours from Berhampur and nearly 5 hours from Bhubaneswar.

The Padmasambhava Mahavihara Monastery, also known as Thupten Mindolling Monastery, is located at Jeerango, Gajapati district, in the state of Odisha, India, is the main monastery belonging to the Ripa Lineage. It is said to be the largest Buddhist monastery in Eastern India. The Dalai Lama inaugurated it in January 2010.

The Dalai Lama gave an accord for the monastery in 1998. The foundation stone was laid in 2003, and the building was completed in 2008 at a cost of about Rs 8 crores
